The Park

Scarborough has a lot of skaters and a lot riders - Skate4Scarborough came together to build a brand new fully featured, high quality skate park, to provide Scarborough with a park to make everyone else extremely jealous(and it will) - situated in stunning surroundings. The park has been designed by skaters, who know exactly what makes a good park for people of all skills. It will sit in front of Hairy Bob's cave, below the castle headland and right next to the ocean.

The park will measure approx 55 metres in length, 25 metres in width with bowls approx 8ft deep, and will features trails for skaters and riders of all abilities. We also hope to install an extra dirt jump area for riders. Best of all, the park will be absolutely FREE to use

First update of 2008 .

23/02/2008

Hi All,
At the 12 feb meeting maverick turned up, which was a surprise as no one but Tom knew! It did however give us a chance to talk about the reveised plans with them. Which was good! Yet again there are to be a few changes.
The main ones are to the set up that is in front of the Jump Box. Currently on the plans there is a long flat bank there but this is to be changed to two quarters with a set back roll-in creating a nice gap transfer. Again there are a few more rail revisements, there will be a box rail across the thin driveway on the left side with the existing rail staying in the same place.

And yet AGAIN there are other revisements that are quite difficult to explain so you'll have to wait until Maverick get back to us with the plans, which hopefully wont be too long.

A Big Thankyou.

15/12/2007

Hi everyone,

Thanks to everyone who came down to the gig on the 6th, we were overwhelmed by the turnout and by all means it was a great success. We have things in the pipeline for 2008 and will probably hold another gig in the not too distant future. Thanks to all the bands, photographers and people who helped out and made it run as smoothly as it did. We should have a bunch of photos and stuff online soon, so you can revel in memories.

Thanks again, and we hope you all have a great holiday :)

Latest News & Updates.

09/11/2007

Hi everyone,

Maverick have won the contract for the skate park - check out some of the images - this is going to be an amazing park!

We've gone back to calling it Hairy Bob's Skate Park as this name is a phenomenon in itself. Boblands just didn't cut it.

There is loads going on (see below), but we need more people to come and help out if we are going to make this park happen. Everyone is welcome along to the next meeting.

Here are some of the things on the go and in the pipeline:

• Computer animation & fly-throughs of the new park (these will be posted on here)

• Pro-skaters signing framed t-shirts and decks for competition prizes

• Gig at Zero or Vivaz to raise funds, publicity and the roof coming soon (more DJ's and bands needed).

• Exhibition of the plans being made up to display at the existing skate park.

• Yorkshire Coast College designing decks, t-shirts and other promo stuff on the Hairy Bob theme.

• Massive opening event for the new park planned for summer with pro-skaters and lots of competitions.

Get yourselves along to the next meeting on Thursday and find out more
